No Central Heating  No Hot Water

You must check and verify the following;

 

If it is Boiler shut down, Check the power On indicator light on the boiler is 'ON' on the Boiler.   If there is power then the boiler was shut down by its safety controls devices. You will a professional to sort the boiler problem. Please Note: It is illegal for anyone to repair a gas boiler ( Gas Safety Regulations 1995). In the interest of your household and that of the public please comply with the law. 

If no power on the boiler then the first thing to do is to establish power supply to the boiler. 

It may be 

  1. The fuse blown 
  2. Power was accidentally turned off
  3. There is no credit on the electricity supply meter.
  4. Faulty Timer or Programmer fail to turn on the power supply when it is needed
  5. Faulty Room Thermostat
  6. Faulty Hot water Thermostat
  7. Faulty Motorised Valve

Check the gas supply is turned ON, if there is gas for cooking the there will gas to the boiler. If the gas supply is interrupted some boilers have to be reset using the reset button or knob on the boiler.

If the Boiler have a Pressure Gauge, Check the system water pressure, for systems it should be around 1.5 bar. If the pressure is lower than 1 bar, the system should be charged.

Programmer / Timer

Make sure that the Programmer reads the correct time of the day. If there is a manual Override switch, set the switch to manual override and the the boiler

Pump

When the pump runs, its vibrations can be felt. Noise can be listened with the help of long insulated screwdriver.

You may access the pump shaft, after removing the pump vent screw at the back of the pump body. Expect water spillage and take care. 

The pump shaft should spin freely, try and accomplish this using a small narrow screwdriver, if this is not possible the pump is faulty.
